The Dixie Chicks are back with a new single from an upcoming album. The song is entitled "Not Ready To Make Nice" and is about their lead singers struggles with being outspoken in 2003.
To recap... Natalie Maines calls Toby Keith's 'Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue' "ignorant" and then wears an "FUTK" t-shirt. She also says she's
"ashamed" George W. Bush is from Texas. They were even involved with the "Rock For Change" concert series.
Then came the great tales of the
Country Radio blacklist. Prior to the blacklisting, they were at #1 on both the album and single charts. Their next single to radio was an odd choice, as it was an ethereal lullabye not very similar to the "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" fare most often found blasting from Music City, USA. That song "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)", which Radney Foster took to #74 in 1999 only makes it to #48 for the Chicks in 2003. Then radio silence for the Chicks, as they haven't released a studio album since.
Well, now they're back and moving up the charts. It will be interesting to see how they do.
